Several years back I purchase this beautiful tall vase for a Christmas arrangment but since then it's been in my closet collecting dust.  I've wanted to use it, don't get me wrong, but with the large opening my flower arrangements came out looking droopy and unattractive!

No more drooping flowers for this lady!  I've learning a simple trick to keeping my flowers up right and elegant with the help of a plaid friend, scotch tape.  I usually only see scotch tape around Christmas time or when I'm wrapping birthday presents, but now that I know this little tip, I'm sure scotch tape and I will be seeing each other much more regularly.

Where was I?  Oh right... here's how it's done:
  1. Add a few diagnal rows of tape followed by a few horizontal rows to make a criss-cross pattern at the top of the vase {Scotch Transparent tape works best}.
  2. Trim off any excess tape along the sides using a sharp knife.
  3. Place flower stems through the open criss-cross sections, filling the vase {start from the middle and working your way out}.
And when you're done, you're left with an arrangement that looks like this:
